Description
This Stacy Lambert Folk Art Pottery Jug was created July 24, 2012. Working its way toward “vintage,” it is sure to be a lasting heirloom in the years to come. In many ways, Lambert’s work reminds us of that created by the Martin Brothers in the late 1800s.
Dimension: Approximately 11 inches tall x 7.5 inches at widest point.
Provenance: Purchased from Ledbetter Folk Art; subsequently confirmed in direct correspondence with the Artist as a design titled “Adam and Eve.”
From the artist, himself: “Adam and Eve” is applied clay, the tiles surrounding them are made from a press mold that I made. I had lost the molds during a move, and I recently found them and was delighted. The stain is an underglaze of chocolate brown, a technique I learned while working in a leather store. The piece was then sprayed with a clear glaze. I had seen a similar design from a Georgia potter named Wilfred Dean, who did several for the Olympics when they were held in Atlanta. I thought his design was nice, but he didnโt have tile, and his piece was in color. I used the stain technique to give an antique look. Hope you have a great day, Iโm supposed to deliver some pieces to a gallery in Asheville today, so my journey continues!” To read more about Stacy Lambert, click HERE.
