Description
Exceptional, stylish, and extremely scarce pair of Minton Secessionist Art Nouveau tubelined art pottery vases dated to the early 1900s. These antique pottery vases stand on a wide round stepped foot and are a tapering cylindrical shape with a round trumpet rim. Decorated with stylized shield-shaped tubelined patterns repeated around the body, with centers set with colored jewels. Both are hand-painted in blue, red, and white glazes set within a dark green tubelined border and against a brighter green ground. As is common with these pieces, the glazes have run down over the patterning and over the foot rim in places. One vase has a printed Minton mark in black along with โNo 1โ and both have incised marks partly obscured by glaze. Height: 11.82″, Diameter at widest point: 4.83″.
Provenance. Originally acquired from the UK art market. In great condition with light wear associated with age.
