Rare Chinese carved amethyst snuff bottle. Measures approximately 3″ x 1.85″ x 1.15″. Historically, amethyst has many meanings. In ancient Chinese culture, it was used to get rid of negative energy. Chinese traditionalists also wore or carried amethyst to drive away the perils of everyday life and, in ancient wars, believed it brought protection to those who carried it.
